Moore Park Arts Festival
Once again we had lots of fun at the two day festival. There were a good audience there on both days and the weather stayed fine!
Seniors Week in Bundaberg
Ladies from Goddess Magic 50+ joined me to entertain the crowds at Seniors week in the civic centre and Parish Hall on August 19th. Despite the CD Player trying to make us stop, we carried on and had a lot of fun!
Mosaic: AWARE Dogs Fundraiser
The fundraiser concert was a great success. Lots of wonderful music, costumes and amazing entertainment. We were joined by dancers from The Muses: Hervey Bay, Nahlah Sahara: Agnes Waters, Havena Dancers: Maryborough and Ignite Dance Studion from Bundaberg.
Shimmy Showcase
Erin and I had a great time performing at this year's Shimmy Showcase in Maryborough. It is the first time that it hasn't clashed with something else we have been booked to do. It was wonderful to see such a diverse range of dancers and styles. We performed early in the evening, so were able to watch the whole show!
Moore Park 2010 Ladies Night In - March 27th
This is an annual event to raise money for the Moore Park Beach Festival of Arts. It is always a great night and this year was no exception. I took the "Goddess Magic" performers with me this year and this year we performed a number of tribal and fusion style routines. We then got a large group of ladies up and dancing. We enjoyed some well earned cocktails and some great company.
Melissa Christina - Salsa Bellydance Workshop - Maryborough March 14th
Erin and I enjoyed this workshop with Melissa Christina, who is a dynamic and lively teacher. Salsa was completely new to both of us and we really enjoyed learning the new routine. Both of us suffered for wearing the high heeled shoes needed for this workshop though. Great to catch up with dancers from all over the state of sunny QLD
Biggenden, Education through Entertainment - March 6th
What a wonderful audience we always have at Biggenden. We are always treated like friends. The "Goddess Magic" Troupe and I had a wonderful time dancing 5 tribal style routines and then being treated to lunch by the lovely ladies there. Thanks for a wonderful day!
O Week CQU - Feb 24th
This year we had a great response to the workshop at CQU for O week.. It was well attended and we even had a couple of boys join in. We had heaps of fun and I think most people were surprised at how much energy is needed for bellydance.
New Year Hafla
Rather than finish 2009 with a hafla, we decided to begin our New Year with a celebration and open day. We had a wonderful evening with lots of new faces, music, food and much dancing. We had the wonderful talent of Pascale Osanz to peek into our lives with her Spirale Colour readings, and mini bazaar to top it all off. Unfortunately no-one remembered to take any photos once the celebrations actually started!!!!!
2009
Aged Care Open Day - Biggenden - November 6th
The "Goddess Magic" ladies and I were invited to perform a demonstration for the elderly and their carers at an Open Day held at the Biggenden Hospital. Despite the hot weather, the ladies had a great time and were even asked for an encore performance for some of the elderly patients who could not be moved outside.
Port to Port - October 29th
This year performed a 20 minute set at the Bundaberg Port Marina for the International Port to Port Yachties. What a great time we all had. We had quite a number of audience members join us at the end to dance to "Hips Don't Lie". It was an evening to remember for many of us with lots of laughs and great company.
Lighten Up workshop - Indiginous Wellbeing Centre - Oct 14
I was asked to run a 20 minute workshop and demonstration for members of the Lighten Up Programme at the Bundaberg Indiginous Wellbeing Centre. This workshop was great fun with nearly every participant, women and men joining in. Thanks for asking me, it was a pleasure.
Mental Health Week in the Park - 5th October
"Goddess Magic" and I were invited to run a mini demonstration/workshop and performance for mental health week. It was held in the pavillion at Alexandra park. Once again we were really well recieved and we even managed to persuade a few of the carers to participate in our mini workshop. Thank you ladies!!!
Doll and Bear Fair 5th Sept
Our performance at the Bundaberg Doll and Bear fair is an annual event. This year Marie and I were unable to dance so I thank those that went on without us.
Purple Door Open Day - 5th Sept
"Wings of Isis" were honoured to be invited to perform at the opening of The Purple Door health centre. It was lovely to be a part of their celebrations and we wish everyone the best of luck at the Purple Door.
Bundaberg Multicultural Festival - 30th August
This is the second time we have performed at the Bundaberg Multicultural Festival and once again we had a really great time. Lots of friendly faces and an appreciative audience.
Moore Park Arts Festival - 16th August
Once again we all enjoyed performing at the Moore Park Arts Festival. This year we were joined by "Goddess Magic" our over 50's group and as usual we were really well recieved. We look forward to performing at this festival each year.
Isis Rising at the Lakes - July 25th
This year Isis Rising performed our very first concert. It was held at The Lakes Retirement Village as part of their Xmas in July celebrations. We danced two halves, the first being classical bellydance and the second, tribal. The evening was a huge success and we will be returning in April 2010 for another concert to raise funding for AWARE Dogs, assistance dogs. (See write up in Media)
Cairo in Tiaro - July 18th
Sam, Erin, Terese and I spent a great weekend of bellydance in Tiaro. The workshops were run by the Sabaya girls and included Bollywood and Celtic Sword dancing. We were joined by Jodie for the Bollywood workshop and by a group of Goddess ladies who came down especially for the Hafla on Saturday night. We all had a great night of food, wine and dancing.
Sabaya Retreat May 23
Erin, Sam and I attended the Sabaya Bellydance Retreat, at The Haven, Emu Park. What a wonderful time we had. The Haven is a great place to hold any sort of conference, retreat etc. We met lots of new people and renewed old friendships. Best of all we got to dance all weekend!
Jane McGrath Foundation Fundraiser - May 8th
"Wings of Isis" and "Goddess Magic" performed at the Jane McGrath Foundation Fundraiser held at the RSL Club in May. We had a very appreciative audience and all for a good cause.
Moore Park Ladies Pamper Night 09
This year there was a great turnout for the first Moore Park Arts Festival, Ladies Pamper Night. The focus is on health and wellbeing. I was invited once again to dance and then run a mini workshop. It was a fun night with quite a few ladies kicking up their heels in the workshop.
